Allen was born 02 Nov 1897 in Delmore, Kansas to John C Johnson and Ida Amanda Blair. He died 17 Oct 1973 in Wichita, Kansas.

Violet and Allen were married on 01 Aug 1925 in Manhattan, Kansas. They had 3 children.

Violet graduated from Burrton High School. After teaching school in the area for a few years, Violet moved to Manhatten with her parents in 1919. There she graduated from the Business School at Sacred Hearts Academy, then worked as the bookkeeper for Ramey Lumber Company.

Allen attended school in the North Diamond School District and later attended Kansas State College School of Agriculture.

After their marriage, Violet and Allen made their home on the Johnson family homesite northeast of Galva, Kansas. In 1952 they retired from an active life of farming and moved to McPherson, Kansas. They were active members of the First Baptist Church of McPherson.

Allen was a member of the McPherson Camplighters and the Elks Lodge. His obituary notes: His was a life full of enthusiasm for all phases of living. He had a deep love for people, music and the great out of doors and was most happy for the freedom it gave him.

Violet was a devoted wife. She enjoyed many years of traveling, camping, fishing, cooking out and entertaining family and friends. Her obituary notes: Because of failing health, Violet lived her last years in local care homes. Her sweet spirit gained her many friends and the deep respect of her loving caregivers.
